HISTORY

Executive Support Systems and The Belize Institute for Executive Professionals were birthed in 1993 and managed and owned by Margarita Burrowes who pursued her vision to provide an avenue and channel for service, office, and administrative support professionals to fulfill their career goals and engage in continued education geared towards achievement of the CPS rating (Certified Professional Secretary).

Margarita offered a combination of paid and voluntary services in teaching, training and coaching office workers; accepted numerous speaking engagements, and gave professional support to friends and colleagues in the secretarial and administrative professions in writing resumes, and preparing professional portfolios from 1993 to 1996. When the company she worked for since 1983 decided to restructure in 1996, she was more than ready to pursue her vision full time. She has literally not been able to rest since.

Since 1997, she has expanded on her services, employed full-time and part-time and engaged voluntary workers to serve her clients in a most comprehensive menu of office services and training and professional development of service, office and administrative workers. She took the coaching, teaching and training to another level by creating her own training programs geared for workers who had limited secondary school education, little life and workplace skills and poor prospects for entering the job market in the services and convenience sectors.

Margarita created the links within the private sector and coordinated job placement opportunities for these workers. The SURVIVAL SKILLS Century 21 training program is well recognized since 1998 for workers who are employed as customer service agents, sales clerks, domestics, receptionists, cashiers, office assistants, and general helpers in business and commerce. She has delivered on that program with her cadre of professional associates who hold similar visions for workers.

OFFICE PRO Century 21 was birthed in 1999 and continues to be the benchmark for preparation of office and administrative support professionals for the reengineered workplace of the 21s Century, through the attainment of the CPS (Certified Professional Secretary) and the CAP (Certified Administrative Professional).

In 1999 Margarita introduced a NEW and critical component to the business- INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS,and the harmonization with 21st Century human resource management practices. BIEP was strengthened and the labour consultancy component of the business was then introduced. It has complemented the employment agency in its recruitment and placement services and provides a perfect balance of services to both employers and workers. BIEP -Belize Institute for Executive Professionals guarantees the promotion of workers’ productivity for the competitiveness of the enterprise, with focus on equity and social justice.

This level of growth has been phenomenal and quite non-traditional in Belize and has positioned both BIEP and EXSSYS as the only power-packed, one-stop VIRTUAL EMPLOYMENT AGENCY with built-in capacity for multi-level, and multi-scope services to clients.
